Katerina Rouzina Named 2019-2020 Roslyn Z. Wolf-JDC International Fellow

Katerina “Katya” Rouzina has been named the 2019-2020 Roslyn Z. Wolf Cleveland-JDC International Fellow. In this capacity, Katya will spend one year in Kharkov, Ukraine, working with the local Jewish community to plan and facilitate youth camps, Shabbat programming, leadership training platforms and community-wide programs. Established in 2003 by the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, JDC (the global Jewish humanitarian organization), and the JDC Entwine Global Jewish Service Corps, the Roslyn Z. Wolf Cleveland-JDC International Fellowship is part of a cohort of nine young JDC Entwine Global Jewish Service Corps Fellows deployed around the world to address global issues through JDC and its partners.

The Jewish Federation of Cleveland will launch the 2020 Campaign for Jewish Needs on Wednesday, August 28 at a special event that will be open to the public at 7:00 pm at B’nai Jeshurun Congregation (27501 Fairmount Blvd in Pepper Pike). The Campaign for Jewish Needs is the Federation’s annual fundraising campaign that raises the critical dollars needed to change and improve lives in Cleveland, Israel, and around the world.

Five Questions with Tamara Cofman Wittes

Even though she grew up in East Lansing, Michigan – “enemy territory” as she calls it – Tamara Cofman Wittes headed south to Northeast Ohio to get her undergrad at Oberlin College. Her senior year, she wrote her thesis on the history of Jewish Cleveland, which sparked a successful career researching Jewish and Middle Eastern culture. Today, she serves as a senior fellow in the Center for Middle East Policy at Brookings Institution, a nonprofit public policy organization in Washington, D.C.

In an effort to support and make the Jewish community more secure, one auto dealership has stepped up in a big way by donating two pickup trucks to the Jewish Federation of Cleveland for use by its security provider. This increases the mobile security fleet from two to four vehicles.

Jason Wuliger has been awarded the 2018 Bennett and Donna Yanowitz Leadership Award by the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. The award recognizes and honors an outstanding young individual who has demonstrated commitment, involvement, and leadership within Cleveland’s Jewish community. Wuliger will be presented with the award at the Federation’s Board meeting on April 30.
