Have you mastered the art of worrying during COVID-19? Join mindfulness experts Lori Wald and Yoshi Silverstein to learn techniques incorporating movement and stillness to help you make peace with your worries and bring more calm to your daily routine.

In addition, hear how our partners in Israel utilize mindfulness techniques to help at-risk youth through our Federation-supported Youth Futures program.

Lori Wald:

Lori Wald prides herself on being able to teach anyone to do nothing. She is a certified Trained Mindfulness Facilitator from the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience & Human Behavior. Lori has conducted Continuing Legal Education courses on the topic of mindfulness and has taught nursing home residents, primary and middle school students, as well as private individual groups both in person, on Zoom and on Facebook through her page, Nothing Doing. Her essays about mindfulness have been published in various places including literary journals, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Journal of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and her website Nothing Doing Daily.

Yoshi Silverstein:

Yoshi Silverstein is Founder and Executive Director of Mitsui Collective, which builds resilient community through embodied Jewish practice and racial equity. He is also Cleveland community organizer for Edot: The Midwest Regional Jewish Diversity Collaborative, a cohort six Schusterman Fellow, and is part of M² Institute for Experiential Jewish Education’s inaugural Jewish Pedagogies Circle. Formerly, Yoshi was Director of the JOFEE Fellowship at Hazon from its launch through its first four cohorts, through which he catalyzed the growth and leadership of over 60 emerging professionals working across the US and Canada in the realm of Jewish relationship to land, food, culture, climate, and community.

As a Chinese-Ashkenazi-American Jew, Yoshi is an active advocate and educator in the Jews of Color community and speaks regularly on diversity, equity, and inclusion. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for Repair the World, is a member of the Grants Advisory Committee for the Jews of Color Initiative, is an alumnus of Selah (Cohort 14, Jewish Leaders of Color) and current member of the Selah Advisory Council, and has been a cast member of Kaleidoscope Project's "What Does Jewish Look Like to You" monologue series and an ELI Talks speaker. Yoshi holds certificates in Spiritual Entrepreneurship (Columbia Business School through GLEAN Network), social entrepreneurship (PresenTense NYC), permaculture design, ecovillage design, and environmental education; and earned his Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture at University of Maryland with a thesis exploring Jewish landscape journey and experience. Originally from Spokane, WA, Yoshi is also a movement and somatics teacher, 2nd degree blackbelt, and aficionado of Chinese Roast Duck, and now lives in Shaker Heights, OH with his wife (a Cleveland area native), daughter, and pup.
