Perlmuter Receives Ruby Bass Award
Jewish Federation of Cleveland Presents Ruby Bass Award to Shari S. Perlmuter
Shari S. Perlmuter of Pepper Pike has been named the 2016 recipient of the Ruby Bass Award, honoring her volunteerism and dedication to the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. Perlmuter was presented with the award at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland Women’s Philanthropy Signature Event on September 27.
Established in memory of Ruby Bass (z”l), the award is given to a woman who honors Ruby’s lifelong passion for the Federation, her commitment to the Women’s Division and fundraising for the Campaign for Jewish Needs, the annual fundraising campaign that ensures our vitality and vibrancy in the year ahead.
“I feel so strongly about raising money for Jewish Cleveland. I’m happy to do what I do and I love sharing that with people,” Perlmuter said. “Ruby Bass, who I knew personally, and the amazing group of women in our community helped me find a purpose – they understood the meaning of tikkun olam (repairing the world) and they inspired me to build my own personal value system.”
Perlmuter is a treasured leader and volunteer at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. As a past chair of the Women’s Philanthropy Campaign, Shari currently serves as General Vice Chair for the annual Campaign for Jewish Needs, the Create Your Jewish Legacy committee, and is a member of the Donor Recognition Committee. She is an active member on the National Women’s Philanthropy Board of the Jewish Federations of North America. In addition to her Federation involvement, Shari is the chair of Cleveland Israel Bonds Women’s Division, and on the Board of Trustees at Jewish Family Service Association (JFSA).
In Perlmuter’s honor, the Ruby Bass Challenge Endowment Fund will make a donation to the Women’s Campaign for the 2017 Campaign for Jewish Needs. This award was established by Ruby Bass’ son Jonathan, his wife Stephany, and her mother Lenore Kessler, who was also Ruby’s dear friend.
