Description
Pianist Kirill Gerstein has rapidly ascended into classical music’s highest ranks. Born into a Jewish family in Russia, Gerstein studied classical piano at an early age and taught himself to play jazz by listening to his parents’ extensive record collection. He was awarded First Prize at the 2001 Arthur Rubinstein Piano Competition, received a 2002 Gilmore Young Artist Award, and a 2010 Avery Fisher Grant. He is sixth recipient of the Gilmore Artist Award presented to an exceptional pianist who possesses profound musicianship and can sustain a career as a major international concert artist.
